Making Halloween Elegant - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I finally got some Halloween decor up on Monday after work!  Better late than never!  I used things I've collected over the last few years and set it up all on the dresser I have under my staircase.

My dad made the wooden black cats for me years ago and my mom gave me the old Victorian boots that look like witch boots to me!  She also gave me the

Irish Hiking Scarf - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  About this time every year I get the knitting bug! I pulled out the scarf I've been working on for the last three years to knit and realized that the moths had found the wool.  I didn't even notice that they had eaten holes in it until I worked on it for a couple hours!  It was so bad I just threw it away and started all over with a non-wool yarn.  It was

Model Homes Tour....

A few weekends ago, there was an open house at Daybreak, for a new phase of houses being built.
It was so much fun!
There were seven different houses that we were able to walk through.
This new phase of homes surrounds a small lake & there are walking trails all the way around it.
Some of the houses are just a few steps away from the walking path and lake.

I absolutely LOVE the style of homes they are building.
They are beautiful & have so much charm!
I love that most of them have porches & extra decorative woodwork on the outside.
Each one is unique & different in it's own way.
This was one of my favorites...
It was huge & had a great view of the lake.
The builder is Rainey Homes.
I think this is such a great idea...storage under the porch.
This was my absolute favorite home...
It was also built by Rainey Homes.
The porch is perfect...it wraps all the way around!
The woodwork, pillars & shake on the front of  this home made my heart skip a beat...I LOVE it!
The inside is so bright & beautiful!
My kids' decided it was the perfect house for us...I agree!
It has such an open floor plan.
When you enter, it has the kitchen to your left...

I love how some of the cupboards are a light blue color.  Do you also see the beamed ceiling?
It is gorgeous!
The living room is to the right...
It is so bright...I loved all of the windows!
This staircase is centered to the back of the house, it's between the kitchen & living room...
Do you notice the hint of light blue on the top of the rails? It matched the kitchen cabinets.
I love the touch of color!
I also like how it had windows on the wall going up.
This house definitely isn't dark & dreary!
I also love all of the storage...
This is on a wall in the master bedroom...the middle opens up to hide a flat screen!
I also loved the doors...
Don't you love the woodwork & window at the top?
This house & most of the others we toured were full of  little details that make a house feel so charming.
I will be doing one more post to show you the inside of a few of the other homes, they really are beautiful!

Autumn Table - Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  This week I'm resharing an Autumn table I did back in 2010.  Here it is mid October and I still have shells and summering things on my table!

I'm going to try to find some time this weekend to decorate for Autumn but I will also be working on my Halloween costume and I know every time I sew something it takes so much longer than what I expect it to!

Adding Hardware To Your Garage Doors

Last year, I did a post on how to inexpensively update your garage doors.
You can see it HERE.
If you remember, we did our first door & it was perfect!
Then we got to the larger garage door & the spacing on the door was different. :(
We couldn't drill the handles close together like the other door, so we had to space them apart.
It drove me crazy...it just didn't look right. We figured out how to fix it!!
I bought one more package of hardware like this...

It was $12.50 at Home Depot.
We moved the handles in & made two sets to match the other door.
We removed the handles & filled the holes with screws that we had painted white.
I think it definitely looks better!
I still think this is a wonderful way to get the "look" for less!

Fall & Halloween Decor 2013

Welcome...

To our home!

I kept the front porch pretty simple this year.

I kept my green topiaries in the pots & added wreaths to top of the planters.
Here is our entry...

It's the same as last year.
I just added a burlap bow to my vase.
I also added a little foliage with some pumpkins to the wreath on this wall.
I just added this collage to my living room.
Our piano area...
I just added a few pumpkins to the piano.
I added a touch of "fall" to the wreath...
The piano is kind of like having a mantel to decorate ...
I decided to add another little pumpkin to my lamp table.
I love the stem on this one!
I'm also loving my yellow accents with all of the fall colors.
Next, is my dining area...
I added some fall leaves to the chandelier & table.

My family room is the "Halloween" room...

I kept my mantle the same as last year too...
The only thing different is an added  "Happy Halloween" sign & few pumpkins to the mantle.
Last year, I added polk-a-dot wrapping paper to the back of my shelves.
This year, I kept it the same, but instead of potion bottles on the one shelf,
I added this cute owl...
Isn't he cute?
He was only $3.00 at Walmart!
Then I put him on a pumpkin from the dollar store.
He even has a little hole in the bottom, so he fit right on the stem of the pumpkin.
He's a new favorite!
Wow..that was a long post!
Are you ready for fall & Halloween?
It is definitely a favorite time of year for me.
I hope you all have a "Spook-tacular" Halloween!!

Coco Chanel - Show and Tell Friday!

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I want to introduce you to my daughter's new dog! Her name is Coco Chanel but we call her Coco for short.

Her mama is a Maltese and her daddy is a Shih Tzu which makes her a Malshi.  She looks like a little stuffed animal!  It took Beau a couple days to warm up to her but now they are best buddies!

Also, if you didn't see my last post the other

I have a favor to ask of you...

Some of you may already know that I work for HP.  We are having a contest at work for HP employees that would like to participate and I've decided to go for it since I have a chance to win a new laptop (that I desperately need). All I will need you to do is click on the link at the bottom of this post and that will take you to an HP website.  The employee (hopefully me!) with the most unique

Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  This week I'm sharing a beautiful birthday present from my daughter!

She went to one of my favorite stores, Vintage and Vogue in downtown Campbell, California for my birthday present. She was so excited to give me this gift she couldn't even wait until my birthday and wanted me to open it two days early!   She knew I would love these beautiful
