The Bedroom Chair - Show and Tell Friday!

"After"

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!

Last week I got a couple comments about the chair in my bedroom so I thought I would share again the makeover I did on this chair years ago. I bought this chair at the flea market back in June 2008 for only $15.

"Before"

I could see that it had a lot of potential but I had never reupholstered anything before but I decided to buy a book

Picking Out Windows...

Our kitchen remodel is moving along!
The addition is enclosed, the roof is done & today they are installing windows!
Finding the right windows wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.
I always have these great ideas of the style I want.
Here are a few of my "inspiration" photos...

This was my "dream" window...It's perfect in so many ways!
It goes together so well with a farmhouse sink.

Unfortunately, reality changed my dream when we got the pricing.
This one window was more than double the cost of both of our kitchen windows.
We decided there wasn't room in our budget and started researching some cheaper options.
Home Depot was where we finally ordered ours from and they look beautiful!

For the dining area, we picked a window like the one in the picture below.
It looks like the window in the middle of the window seat.
It is a picture window that has the six squares at the top.

The window above our sink looks a lot like this one...

It will have four squares at the top instead of three and it will be white.
It is such a fun process to see everything coming together.  It can be difficult for me to picture the end result when you are in the middle of all the chaos, but it is definitely getting to the point where it's looking like a real room!  I'll get some photos of the progress tonight & show you how it's coming along.

My bedroom - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  My bedroom is still a work in progress but it's getting there! It has sort of been the catch-all room since I moved in here last month. I had everything I didn't know what to do with piled in a corner.  Last weekend I finally got rid of a few things, stuffed other things in my closet and under my bed so I didn't have to look at the mess anymore!

I have

An update from Coco and Beau!

We (Coco Chanel and Beau) just wanted to say hi to everyone!  We are now settled in our new apartment and we are liking it very much!  There are lots of dogs around here for us to bark at when our mom takes us for our walks!   We even bark at the dogs that walk by our apartment all day long!  We also like to hang out in our mom's bedroom in this comfy wicker chair!  Our mom will be sharing

Hand-painted rose plates - Show and Tell Friday

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  I lived with the mirror in my dining room for a week and I just felt it needed something. I'm just not a simple girl...I need stuff!  I added some hand-painted rose plates last weekend and now I like it better!

I've had these plates awhile and they are some of my favorites! I actually bought the four small plates together and then found the larger

Construction Zone...

We are definitely in the "construction zone" phase of our remodel.
We decided to extend our kitchen and dining area out six feet.  The wall with the windows will be coming down too.
As of Saturday, our kitchen is GONE!
These boys took down the final wall with some karate kicks!
This was the final push!
We still have some tile to tear up & then we are ready for this to be DONE!!
I'm just glad these boys enjoy this kind of destruction!
This little cutie takes after her mom ...
She came in the room and said, "Daddy, you need to clean this mess up!"
Now comes the "fun" part of living without a functioning kitchen.
Hopefully, things will keep progressing quickly!
As far as the exterior goes, they got the footings in & started tearing off some of the stucco...
This is how it looks today...
They removed more stucco & have the wood for the floor in...it's kind of an extension from our deck right now.
Of course, it's going to snow tonight!
Let's hope it's not a bad storm & we can keep the progress going.
Does anyone have some tips they can share on how to survive a kitchen remodel?

The livingroom in my new apartment - Show and Tell Friday

The view from the kitchen

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!  Last weekend was the 3 week anniversary of being in my new apartment.  I'm still trying to get everything to fit but it's slowly coming together.  I have all the extra stuff that I can't find room for piled in a corner in my bedroom.

There isn't enough room in my dining room for my china cabinet so I have it in the corner of my

Blanket pilling...

I should have known not to buy a fleece blanket that didn't specifically say it was "anti-pill". Ah well, lesson learned. I bought it (Tommy Hilfiger Full/Queen Plush Fleece Blanket) months ago and it did occur to me that it could pill, but I never expected it to do it so much. It just felt so soft in the store and I couldn't resist getting it.

I thought maybe the pilling would go away after a few washes, but no such luck. Everything gets covered in tiny little balls of fleece - the bed, my clothes, the floor, my hair. I might as well just stop using it, but then I'd feel that would be a waste of the money I spent on it. Next time, I'll shop around some more and actually look at some reviews first.

For anyone who sees this blanket in a store, walk away! Don't waste your money like I did, unless you like being covered in fuzz.
