"Dreamy" Living Rooms...

This is the time of year for spring cleaning, but it's also a time when a lot of people begin remodeling projects.
We recently finished remodeling our
kitchen and family room.
It seems that once you start remodeling one room, it kind of keeps spreading throughout the house!
Our newly remodeled space felt so bright and fresh that we decided to continue the paint and trim work into our living room.
You can see more HERE.
Living rooms are often a popular room to remodel because it is usually the first room people walk into when they enter your home.
When I start a remodeling project, I always begin by searching for my "inspiration".
I usually head to Pinterest and I recently came across the home design website Laurel & Wolf.

Laurel & Wolf is born from the idea that great design transforms the way individuals work, live, and love. Their online interior design service connects anyone looking to design their space with a marketplace of professional interior designers, and after four easy steps, clients receive a personalized, beautiful design package. You can learn more about the process here:  www.laurelandwolf.com/how-it-works .

Instagram and Pinterest accounts to get more ideas!

Here are a few elements my "Dream" living room would incorporate...
1- I think choosing the right paint color is one of the easiest ways to make a huge impact on a room.
I love a room that feels light and bright!

2- Choosing furniture to fit your needs and style is also important.
I love furniture that is classic and comfy.

3- My dream space would include some tufted furniture, just like the picture below.
This room is beautiful and the couch and bench are just my style!

4- I would also incorporate a few accent chairs to my room.
It's a great way to add additional seating and a good place to sit and read a book.

5- My "dream" space would also have woodwork.
It could include beams, a planked ceiling, a shiplapped accent wall or chunky wood trim.
It adds such character to a home!

6- I would add built-ins to my dream living room.
It looks great and adds storage.

The most important part of my dream space is to have an area that is used often and shared with the people I love!

What elements would your "dream" living room include?

Living Room {REVEAL}

We have lived in our home for over 10 years and our living room has gone through a few changes.
Here is how it looked for years...
A few years ago, we sold our floral set and got a sectional.
We recently remodeled our KITCHEN and GREAT ROOM, so we decided to paint our living room the same color.  We used the Benjamin Moore Color 'Pelican Grey'.  I love it because it's grey, but in different light it can look a light blue.  We also changed the baseboards and trim around the windows.
We decided the sectional would seat our whole family when we watch movies, so we moved it into our great room.  So, this started the process of finding new living room furniture.

You can see the post about switching around all of my furniture HERE.

It's taken me quite a while to get it together, but here is how it looks now...
I really love how it turned out!
Here is the view from our entryway...
In the past, I have always purchased a matching set, but this time I bought each piece separately.
It actually turned out cheaper this way and I really like how it looks.
It took longer to get it to the look the way I wanted and was a little frustrating at times.
I ended up buying and returning four sets of chairs! I was ready to take back our couch!
Then I scored these chairs at Homegoods...I'm addicted to that store!
They were only $99 a chair!
I love the stripes!
Then I found a table runner that was made with the same material and made pillow covers out of them.
It only cost me $10.00 for both pillows!

I was going to find a round coffee table, but decided I liked this tufted ottoman.
It opens up and has storage too!
I bet you can't guess where I bought it from?
Yes, it was once again Homegoods!
My next find that I adore was this bird cage bench...
It is so unique and fit perfectly because I have little birds throughout this room.
I love the material on the bench too!
It's our dog's favorite piece of furniture...
He's always on the lookout for someone walking by our house!
I also found a wingback chair at Homegoods (That store knows me on a first name basis now!)
It fits perfect in our bay window...
It's classic with the nailhead trim and stripes.
This is a great little corner next to our piano.  I also found the frames at Homegoods and put our new family pictures in them!
This is what our bay window/piano area looked like before...
Here it is now...
I got the clock at Hobby Lobby.
It was turquoise, so I spray painted it grey.
I also found the lamps at Homegoods!
They work great for more lighting when the kids are practicing.
I just need to buy smaller bulbs!
The little white flowers are from Ikea and the pots were in the dollar section at Target.
The little white bird is one I already had.
It looks cute for spring and the piano is fun to decorate for the different holidays.

Here is our entryway and hallway...
This is in the entrance by our front door.
You take one step down into the living room/hallway...
I stained this table a dark walnut and added the cute bird knobs from Hobby Lobby...

This is the table that was behind my couch in the first picture, it looks totally different now!
Keeping with the bird theme...

The shelf has a cute little bird on top and of course I put one inside!
Our living room feels so much brighter!  It feels like a totally new house!
I always love a good Before & After...
It's so fun to see how our house has changed over the years!
I've never loved it more than I do now!

Rearranging Furniture...

It's sometimes crazy what triggers me to change things around in our home.
Over Christmas break, we had a few family movie nights.
It was after midnight when we finished,
"The Christmas Story"(one of our kids' favorite Christmas traditions).
I kept looking over at our sectional in our living room.  My mind started churning and I looked over at my husband and asked if he was ready to help me move some furniture? He looked at me like I was a little crazy, but luckily we are both night owls & we started moving things around.
We moved our sectional into the great room, which makes more sense for watching movies...we all fit comfortably and actually have some space to lounge out.
Here it is in the living room.
It is a perfect fit in here, but it will definitely be used more in the great room.
The material always felt like it would be a better fit for a TV room.
Here it is in the great room now...
At first, I thought it might be too big, but we are really enjoying it there.
It's weird, but when you are sitting in there, it actually makes the room feel a lot bigger than it did before.
Now I have opened a can of worms figuring out where to put everything else.
I moved our black shelf into the kitchen...
I  really like how it matches our table...
My sister is going to buy my leather set.
Then I found my couch at Ashley Furniture for a great deal!
I actually found it in the classifieds from a wholesale store that was about an hour away.
We went into the Ashley store closer to our house and they had the same set.
They price matched it and I saved another $250.00.
 I love a good deal.
I love tufted furniture!
Now we have to find two chairs and a coffee table to complete the room.
Here are a few of my "inspiration" rooms:

They are both beautiful rooms and I like how this is going to look more "formal" for our living room.

When I started putting away our Christmas decor it started me on a major "clean out"!
It feels so good to get rid of junk.  I actually tackled this storage area we call the "pit".
It took me ALL day, but I had a whole car full of stuff for goodwill.
While I was unloading, the kid asked me like three times, "Is that everything?"
I know how to fill up my car... Lets just say it was a good de-junk!
We hadn't touched that area in almost 10 years.  It was the space you'd feel with "stuff" and shut the door.
I love getting organized for the New Year!
We are off to a good start!
Today, my mom & I started on my sister's house to make room for her to take our old leather set.
She gave us treat on our way out and said not to come back ;).
Unfortunately, we don't listen too well...see you in the morning Clarece!

Christmas In The Living Room

Here is our living room all decorated for the Christmas Season...
I kept it pretty simple.
Putting up too many decorations starts to feel like clutter, it drives me crazy by the end of the holidays.
Here is the corner  of the living room with our tree.
You see more about the tree HERE.
Here is our entryway...
I filled my shelf by the door with some small Christmas decorations...
It makes the space bright and cheery.
Here is the table in our hallway...
I also put some greenery on the baskets this year.
I found these adorable pinecone candles at Walmart.
Here is one more view from the side.
I hung a Christmas wreath over the mirror.
I added a lighted garland to my piano this year...
I love how it looks at night too.

A close up of our silver reindeer...
I'm wishing you all a Merry Christmas!
